ARB - Architecture Review Board

Application Architect  -  This role is primarily responsible for defining the future state vision, architectural roadmap and standards as they relate to AmerisourceBergen’s investment in business software.

Business Architect   - The business architect provides leadership and direction for ensuring solutions are aligned with current and future business unit needs. Responsibilities include: process improvement, communication strategy, stakeholder management in ERP transformation project, strategic planning, and project planning and project execution.

Business Architecture Viewpoint - or  EBA is a decomposition of business processes that work with components of the information and technology architecture to deliver business capabilities.

Chief Architect  - The chief architect is responsible for leading the program to develop, maintain and govern the architecture across the enterprise. . In addition, the role is responsible for defining the EA process and architecture review process, and for leading the integration of those processes with related business and IT processes.

CIO - Chief Information Officer

CRV – Common Requirements Vision  Section of the EA that documents the company’s business strategy and vision and the business, information and technology changes required to implement them.

Data Technology - An area of the technology architecture that includes the technical tools (software) that enable information storage, retrieval, management, and analysis.

EA - Enterprise Architecture is the process of translating business vision and strategy into effective information technology services. The intent of the Enterprise Architecture is to provide direction and regulation to change projects to ensure the reliability, interoperability and sustainability of systems used by ABC. The value of the Enterprise Architecture is realized through the creation and compliance with standards and guidelines.

EAC –
Enterprise Architecture Council Cross business unit committee chaired by the Chief Architect. Responsible to make EA decisions that have cross business unit impact.

EACT – EA Core Team      The team lead by the Chief Architect and made up of trained Enterprise Architects. They are responsible for creating the EA and integrating it with related business and IT processes.

EAET – EA Extended Team    Subject matter experts that are formed into temporary teams for the purpose of defining domain architectures

EBA - Business Architecture Viewpoint
is a decomposition of business processes that work with components of the information and technology architecture to deliver business capabilities.

Emerging - Technologies and/or process elements that are to be evaluated for future use based on technology availability and ABC's needs. These technologies may not be new to the marketplace but are not yet in use at ABC, though they may be a fit for emerging needs at ABC. Procurement or implementation of a technology in this category requires architecture exception request. 

ESC – Executive Steering Committee   The highest EA governance body; made up of IT and business executives.

Information Architecture Viewpoint -Information structure, assets, flow.

Information Architect  -  The Information Architect is responsible for defining the future state vision, architectural roadmap and standards as they relate to AmerisourceBergen’s investment in information solutions. 

Integration Technology - An area of the technology architecture that includes the technical infrastructure that enables applications to communicate with each other effectively while preserving information and data integrity. 

IT - Information Technology

Pattern- A design that can be reused and leveraged across ABC. Learn more.

Platforms - Include the underlying hardware and software that determine an information system’s operations, functions, and specialization.

PMO – Program Management Office   The team responsible for change project prioritization and business approval 

Principle - A high level statement of a fundamental value that guides Information Technology (IT) decision-making and activities, which can then be consistently planned, implemented and maintained.

SDLC – System Development Life Cycle    The standard process for moving business requests through requirements, design, development and implementation phases.

Security - Maintains the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of ABC information and information systems such that the level of protection is commensurate with risk. 

Services are "infrastructure applications" that shift responsibility for certain services out of the application domain into the infrastructure domain; Services are a set of components implemented and reused as a single unit – Common services include security, data movement, Network connections etc

SME – Subject Matter Expert  A person with experience or training in a specific area.

Solution Architect   -  The Solution Architect is primarily responsible for designing IT solutions that leverage the architectural roadmap and standards of AmerisourceBergen’s Enterprise Architecture, seamlessly integrating with the existing IT portfolio teams and delivering on the defined business requirements.

Tactical - Technologies that are recommended for use in the near or tactical time frames (next two years); includes currently available products needed to meet existing needs.

Technology Architect  -  The Technology performs the necessary analysis and design tasks related to the development of the future state vision, architectural roadmap and standards as they relate to AmerisourceBergen’s investment in technology.
